Create elegant shell-shaped ceramic plates and dishes with this 3D printed hump mold for pottery. Inspired by seashell forms and soft coastal curves, this mold helps you make scalloped clay plates with a flowing organic edge and a clean, repeatable shape.

This is a hump mold / drape mold for slab-built pottery. Simply roll out a clay slab, place it over the mold, smooth it gently by hand, and let the clay settle into the shape. No pottery wheel is required, making it a great tool for beginners, hobby potters, ceramic students, and professional makers who want beautiful handmade results with minimal equipment.

The shell-inspired outline creates a decorative ceramic plate that works well as a serving dish, appetizer plate, catchall tray, jewelry dish, wall piece, or decorative handmade plate. It is especially suited to organic, coastal, botanical, and nature-inspired pottery collections.

Each mold is designed and 3D printed in France by DIY Project Depot using plant-based bioplastic. It is lightweight, durable, easy to handle, and designed for repeated studio use.

Choose your preferred size from the menu, or contact us for free size customization up to 40 cm / 16 inches. Custom sizing usually does not affect price or production time, and most molds are in stock or ready within 1–2 days.

How to Use

Roll out a clay slab to your preferred thickness, usually around 4–6 mm. Drape the slab over the hump mold and smooth it gently so the clay follows the shell-shaped profile and scalloped edge. Let the clay firm up to leather-hard, then remove it carefully from the mold.

Depending on your workflow and clay body, you can demold dry, with a light release agent, or with stretch film between the mold and the clay. Once removed, refine the edge, smooth the surface if needed, and continue drying, firing, and glazing as usual.

Most clays shrink during drying and firing. Average clay shrinkage is around 10–12%, so the final fired piece will usually be smaller than the mold size.
