Create handmade ceramic artist palettes, paint mixing plates, watercolor palettes, and creative serving dishes with this original 3D printed hump mold by DIY Project Depot. Designed for clay slab building, this mold helps you shape a raised ceramic palette form with multiple rounded wells and an organic painter’s palette outline.
This is a hump mold / drape mold, meaning the clay slab is placed over the outside of the form. It is ideal for making pottery palettes for watercolor, gouache, acrylic painting, ceramic underglazes, glaze testing, small paint wells, creative serving plates, appetizer dishes, and decorative handmade ceramics.
No pottery wheel is required. Simply roll out a clay slab, drape it over the mold, gently smooth the clay into the shape, let it firm up, then remove and finish your piece. The raised wells in the mold create recessed compartments in the finished clay item, perfect for paint, glaze, sauces, small snacks, jewelry, or decorative use.
Each mold is an original in-house design by DIY Project Depot and is 3D printed in France from plant-based bioplastic. It is lightweight, durable, easy to handle, and useful for beginners, pottery students, ceramic studios, craft workshops, and professional makers who want repeatable handmade forms.
Choose your preferred size from the menu. Custom sizes are available on request up to 40 cm / 16 inches at no extra design cost, with the same fast production time whenever possible.

How to Use
Roll out a clay slab to your preferred thickness, usually around 4–6 mm. Place the slab over the hump mold and gently smooth it around the palette shape and raised wells. Let the clay firm up until it can hold its form, then remove it carefully from the mold.
You can demold depending on your clay and workflow: dry, with a light release agent, or using stretch film between the clay and mold. After demolding, refine the edge, smooth the surface, dry slowly, bisque fire, glaze, and fire according to your usual ceramic process.
Please account for clay shrinkage. Most clays shrink around 10–12% during drying and firing, so the final fired piece will be smaller than the mold size.
Perfect For
Ceramic artist palettes, watercolor palettes, paint mixing dishes, glaze test plates, underglaze palettes, pottery studio tools, handmade serving plates, appetizer dishes, decorative ceramic trays, craft workshops, pottery gifts, and wheel-free slab building projects.
