Make textured ceramic bowls without a pottery wheel using this 3D printed plastic slump mold with a seamless hexagonal relief pattern. This bowl mold is designed for slab pottery and helps you shape handmade clay bowls with a clean form and a modern geometric surface.

The repeating hexagonal texture gives the finished bowl a decorative pattern that can read as honeycomb, geometric, tessellated, or contemporary relief depending on the glaze and clay body you use. It is a practical tool for beginners learning slab building, hobby potters making bowls at home, and ceramic studios looking for repeatable patterned forms.

Simply roll out a clay slab, place it into the mold, press gently, and let the clay settle into shape. Once the clay firms up, remove the bowl, refine the rim and foot if needed, then continue with drying, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing.

This mold is well suited for making:

  • soup bowls
  • cereal bowls
  • rice bowls
  • serving bowls
  • decorative ceramic bowls
  • handmade pottery gifts
  • small-batch studio pottery
  • patterned bowls for glaze testing or surface decoration

Each mold is an original in-house design by DIY Project Depot and is designed and 3D printed in France from plant-based bioplastic. It is lightweight, durable, easy to clean, and made for repeated pottery use.

How to Use

Roll a clay slab to your preferred thickness, usually around 4–6 mm. Lay the slab into the mold and press it gently so the clay follows the bowl shape and captures the hexagonal pattern. Let the clay stiffen enough to hold its form, then remove it carefully.

Most clays shrink during drying and firing. Average shrinkage is about 10–12%, so the final fired bowl will be smaller than the mold size.

Material

This mold is 3D printed from plant-based bioplastic. It is intended for shaping clay only and is not kiln-safe.
