Create elegant crescent-shaped ceramic plates and curved dishes with this 3D printed pottery form by DIY Project Depot. Designed for clay slab building, this crescent plate mold helps you shape smooth, modern, organic dishes without using a pottery wheel.

This is a hump mold / drape mold, meaning the clay slab is placed over the outside of the form. The curved crescent shape creates a unique handmade ceramic dish that works beautifully as a serving plate, appetizer dish, jewelry tray, candle plate, decorative bowl, altar dish, moon-shaped plate, or modern ceramic centerpiece.

The soft crescent profile gives your clay a clean and consistent form while still leaving plenty of room for your own artistic finish. You can keep the surface smooth, add texture, carve details, apply underglaze, use slips, glaze with layered effects, or create a full collection of moon-inspired ceramic pieces.

Each mold is an original in-house design by DIY Project Depot and is 3D printed in France from plant-based bioplastic. It is lightweight, durable, easy to handle, and suitable for beginners, pottery students, home ceramic makers, craft workshops, and professional ceramic studios.

Multiple sizes are available, and custom dimensions can be made on request.

How to Use

Roll out a clay slab to your preferred thickness, usually around 4–6 mm. Place the slab over the crescent hump mold and gently smooth the clay so it follows the curved shape. Let the clay firm up until it can hold its form, then carefully remove it from the mold.

After demolding, refine the rim and surface, dry slowly, bisque fire, glaze, and fire according to your usual ceramic process.

Depending on your clay and workflow, you can demold dry, use a light release agent, or place stretch film between the clay and mold.

Please account for clay shrinkage. Most clays shrink around 10–12% during drying and firing, so the final fired ceramic piece will usually be smaller than the mold size.
