Create refined ceramic plates, bowls, and slab-built pieces with our Limoges slump mold for clay. This 3D printed plastic mold is designed to help you form graceful, repeatable shapes with a decorative floral profile, whether you are just starting with slab work or already making coordinated ceramic collections.
The Limoges design works well for both plates and deeper bowl forms, depending on how you place the clay and which size you choose. It is a useful option for pottery studios, home ceramic practice, and makers who want elegant handmade tableware with a distinctive flower-inspired shape.
Like all our molds, Limoges is designed and made by us at DIY Project Depot, with attention to durability, ease of use, and reliable everyday performance in the workshop.
How to use a slump mold
To use a slump mold, roll out a clay slab and gently lay it inside the mold so the clay drops into the form under its own weight. Then press it carefully into place, compress the surface, trim the rim, and allow it to stiffen to leather-hard before removing. This technique is beginner-friendly and makes it easier to achieve smooth, even, repeatable shapes.
Size options
The mold is available in multiple sizes to help you create flower-shaped plates or bowls that suit your project.
- Mold diameter: 12 to 36 cm (4.7" to 14.2")
- Mold depth: 5 to 17 cm (2.0" to 6.7")
Please note that the final fired ceramic piece will usually be smaller than the mold, due to normal clay shrinkage during drying and firing. For many clay bodies, total shrinkage is often around 10–12%, though this can vary depending on the clay and firing temperature.
