Create elegant ceramic plates, bowls, and slab-built forms with our Versailles slump mold for clay. With its softly structured floral shape and refined decorative character, this 3D printed plastic mold helps you achieve consistent, repeatable results with less effort.
The Versailles design is suitable for both plates and bowl forms, depending on the clay placement and the depth you choose. It is a practical choice for pottery studios, home ceramic work, and makers who want to create coordinated handmade tableware with a more pronounced and sophisticated silhouette.
Each mold is designed and made by us at DIY Project Depot, with a focus on durability, ease of use, and dependable everyday performance in the workshop.
How to use a slump mold
To use a slump mold, roll out a clay slab and gently lay it inside the mold so the clay drops into the form under its own weight. Then press it carefully into place, compress the surface, trim the rim, and allow it to stiffen to leather-hard before removing. This technique is beginner-friendly and makes it easier to achieve smooth, even, repeatable shapes.
Size options
The mold is available in multiple sizes to help you create flower-shaped plates or bowls that suit your project.
- Mold diameter: 12 to 36 cm (4.7" to 14.2")
- Mold depth: 5 to 17 cm (2.0" to 6.7")
Please note that the final fired ceramic piece will usually be smaller than the mold, due to normal clay shrinkage during drying and firing. For many clay bodies, total shrinkage is often around 10–12%, though this can vary depending on the clay and firing temperature.
