Create handmade ceramic pie dishes, baking dishes, tart plates, and fluted serving forms with this 3D printed pottery overmold by DIY Project Depot. Designed for clay slab building, this mold helps you shape clean, consistent ceramic dishes with a beautiful fluted edge and a classic pie-pan profile.

This is a hump mold / drape mold / overmold, meaning the clay slab is placed over the outside of the form. It is ideal for making slab-built ceramic pie pans, quiche dishes, tart plates, shallow baking dishes, serving plates, fruit dishes, and decorative handmade tableware.

No pottery wheel is required. Simply roll out a clay slab, drape it over the mold, smooth it gently by hand, let the clay firm up, then remove and finish your piece using your usual ceramic process.

The fluted side profile creates a traditional baking dish look, while the smooth center gives you a versatile surface for glazing, decoration, carving, stamps, underglaze designs, or custom ceramic artwork.

Each mold is an original in-house design by DIY Project Depot and is 3D printed in France from plant-based bioplastic. It is lightweight, durable, easy to handle, and suitable for beginners, pottery students, craft workshops, home ceramic makers, and professional ceramic studios.

Multiple sizes are available from 16 cm to 40 cm / approximately 6 to 16 inches, with custom sizes available on request.

How to Use

Roll out a clay slab to your preferred thickness, usually around 4–6 mm. Place the slab over the pie pan overmold and gently smooth the clay so it follows the fluted sides and shallow dish shape. Let the clay firm up until it can hold its form, then carefully remove it from the mold.

After demolding, refine the rim and surface, dry slowly, bisque fire, glaze, and fire according to your usual ceramic process.

Depending on your clay body and workflow, you can demold dry, use a light release agent, or place stretch film between the clay and the mold.

Please account for clay shrinkage. Most clays shrink around 10–12% during drying and firing, so the final fired ceramic piece will usually be smaller than the mold size.
